Making our Way through Winter —hoping for Spring . . . SOON??

We got out of January which took FORVER and are now just days from closing out February 2019. Normally, Winter months have not “bothered me so”—-BUT where we are walking most everywhere we go in our Mission duties—the cold wind and blowing snow have been much more noticeable and NOT ENJOYED!!  So yes, we are so looking forward to SPRING.
Our Mission work continues to Go Forth! We are just about finished in our “gathering” and “interviewing” Mission Presidents and Companions (if they are still “with us”— from the 2 Missions that we were given to further document a few months ago, i. e., The Georgia Macon Mission and The Tennessee Nashville Mission.  We have met and truly enjoyed our Interviews with over 12 Mission Presidents and/or their wives and find they carry an incredible Spirit of the work with them even now. A few, due to distance, we have not met personally— but we have received their journals, histories and other mission documents and can truly see their love of the Gospel in what they have recorded.
We have now been assigned another Mission— the Minnesota Minneapolis Mission with dates back to 1925–which will be quite a challenge to find records and personal journals with dates that far     in them in this adjustment to a “new and better life”, hoping the Gospel can be a part of it.

Wow—I’ve not been as faithful at keeping this Blog up-to-date as I did my NYC Mission Blog. But I can always strive to do better. Much has been happening since February— as it is now MAY!! So let’s see what I can “recapture” herein words and photos. . .

“SUPERBOWL MONDAY” tradition was celebrated (in our absence) at Linc’s home in 2019  Such a Fun Tradition to keep (and KEEP the Sabbath as its own day too)

New Friends we so enjoy here in SLC—starting on back left —Elder and Sister Tilley’ Elder and Sister Tenney and Sister and Elder Mumford

Profound statement gleaned from ROOTSTECH 2019

ROOTSTECH 2019
Sister Mumford got to be a VOLUNTEER ( and go to RootsTech for FREE)
It was an AMAZING EXPERIENCE!!

The classes were FULL TO OVERFLOWING
The knowledge was so VAST
Keynote speakers each day (4 days total) were so wonderful and amazing!

Shift gears. . . March 4th 2019
Grandchild #33 joined our “growing “ Mumford Family

We got to attend another Concert in the Conference Center small Theater with our Missy
(Unfortunately, it was not as “noteworthy” as their name suggests— they are so good—they just did not choose their songs well for this audience of mostly Seniors)

Got to go “home” for a few days to help with the new baby  and catch Anslea Mumford in the Awards parade

AND. . . See Max Mumford do his wonderful part as a NEWSIE  in the WestSide School Musical of the same name “NEWSIES”!! He was superb— it was wonderful to be a part of it!!

Time spent in Lincoln and Hollie’s home was such a fun time

It wasn’t until a week or so AFTER we returned back to SLC and our Mission that #33   Finally got her name —-introducing
Liberty Ruth Mumford
Daughter of Lincoln and Hollie Mumford

RED- LETTER DAY!!
Our “FIRST” Collections Item completed
HOORAY!!

Elder R Mumford and Sister C Mumford with the COMPLETED and ready to Return this box of important items to the first Temple President of the New York Manhattan Temple
All digitized and entered in the Church History Library Catalog for anyone in the Church to now “go and see”

Gideon J Wilde with his arm finally “set in a cast” after he broke it in 3 places and had to go all the way to Primary Childrens’ Hospital In SLC, UT on April 24, 2019
And then to Return to Shriners Hospital ( where the excellent Surgeon who set it) has her Office, for this cast on May 3, 2019
He was such a “B-wave Boy” the only crying we heard was at the news that he’d have to wear the cast for 6 weeks— thus limiting his “ run, jump, and CLIMB” routine of Fun!!
These are pics of Gideon awaiting the news in Logan Regional Hospital (Logan, Utah) that “they”— the Drs there— could not set his arm— he needed more “specialized” help and sent he and his Mom, Katie Marie, on their “close to Midnight Ride” to SLC

Morning after Surgery— he has a SMILE on his face and he’s had nothing to eat since 4pm THE DAY BEFORE!! And all he wants is a MCDONALD’S HAPPY MEAL

BINGO— He finally gets his Wish!!

So proud of you— “L ‘il Gid”— you deserve that HAPPY MEAL for sure !!
Safe travels back to Idaho
We love you!! Glad we could help support you and Mom while in Salt Lake!!
