Our SLC MISSION and OUR FAMILY

Since we are so BLESSED to be closer to Family For this 2nd Mission— periodically I will Post some things that we get to be a “part of” because we live “closer to home and family”. So here’s a RECAP of the first 4 months of “being in the Field”.
This is a very interesting question in lieu of the changes that have been made to our meeting schedules since Jan 1, 2019.
HOW WOULD YOU ANSWER THAT?
HOW IS YOUR “COME FOLLOW ME”TEACHING AND LEARNING HELPING YOU AND YOURS??
these Elders did their homework and WON the
Church History Feud Competition! Way to go, Elders!!
We were there to "Cheer on" the participants

Some people went to a lot of work to make this COMPETITION as authentic as the real FAMILY FEUD game it is patterned after--even out interviewing people for the answers to the questions

Look who came and found us at the Church History Library!
Thanks Mel and Skyler and Kirea
We LOVE Visitors!

Brad alerted us to this Veteran's Day Concert and it was SO--O GOOD!!

The Tabernacle was full the night of the Concert
Schools from the area High Schools were the Program and they were so prepared

The Church History Museum has had any ongoing exhibit for the last 4+ months featuring Pres Henry B Eyring's "watercolor paintings" that he has done to express and record his messages of love to his Family members. He has developed this talent at the encouragement of an Art Teacher at then Rick"s College while Pres Eyring was serving as President of that College. He must hve been a "quick study" as his works evoke what he was trying to convey--"to remember his thoughts and
feelings for these precious moments of our lives that will bring great comfort when Life's situations change and we can't bring them back"  I LOVED IT! The exhibit was called " A Visual Journey".

In November 2018 Elder Ron and Sister Carol Mumford were asked if they could attend and give support where needed to the Capitol Hill YSA Ward

This beautiful building with its rock walls and stained glass windows is directly across the street to the west of the State Capitol. It's an experience for sure!!

Went to a special presentation about the art of Dan Wilson and loved this painting of the Savior he had on display

Some special new friends we have made in our service at the Church History Library.
L to R: Elder Ron Mumford, Sister Carol Mumford, Sister Kitty Tenney and Elder Harold Tenney
The Tenney’s are from Prescott, Arizona and  (small world is here) Harold is the brother to Sister Jeanne Brown, who we served with in New York Manhattan Temple AND who found out she had Stage 4 Leukemia in a visit ti Instacare Last Spring and was rushed home to Arizona to begin “the fight for her life” which she is winning so far after almost a year of treatment. We love you, Jeanine and Spencer and your example of strength and hard work. So happy we have met The Tenneys!

More Visitors and . . .this is the year of “Gingerbread Houses”!!

Since we were able to invite as many of our family that could come to Salt Lake City tosee us— this Grammy—aka Sister Carol Mumford to some— decided we should have a Gingerbread House experience. So we tried to fit that in at some point in the Grandchildren’s visit. It worked weall for. . .Most. So here are the results of that effort:
Katie Marie’s kids and Marcus’ kids “shared” a Saturday morning in December 2018 to make Gingerbread houses “with The Cousins”

Will Mumford and his creation—PERFECT

Maggie Wilde is so proud!

Justice  Mumford just can’t “wait” to eat his house

Gunn or Locke— one of two cute boys Grammy just can’t tell apart

Gif “wore himself out” putting his house together

Little MJ  stuck with her fun creation until it was finished!! Lookin’ so good!!

AND Deither Locke or Gunn— hooray “I finished,”

Porter (aka Harry Potter— incognito) Wilde finishes so quietly

Bryce’s kids had their turn the last Saturday before Christmas

And Katie Marie and little Noah Mumford

Pierce Mumford is quite the Decorator!

Owen Burke Mumford is happy no matter what!

Jane Mumford was so patient and stood that cute fence UP several times around her house before it finally STAYED IN PLACE!!

With Grammy Mumford and the finished project

What a great time we had with those who could come and stay! We look forward to other Visitors and more Fun when the otherscan come!!

“Time goes by so . . .QUICKLY. . . And it’s almost Christmas

Where has the time gone since we got our assignment in the Church History Library? We have enjoyed “learning the Ropes” and NOW we are really starting to FLY!! But we have also loved having some Family come to Visit AND to stay overnight with us!! The lights on Temple Square have been a STRONG draw!! Just a few pics to document Activities and Visitors.
November 2018 Happenings:
Linc & Hollie’s family sent us a “Gratitude Village” to help us make Thanksgiving and the days that preceded it more meaningful. We LOVED IT!!

I have always loved this poem

Frank and Marlene Westerman are some of the kindest and most generous people ever! And they wanted to get this group of people together and visit and treat us to lunch at Sizzler’s on the corner of 90th South and State Street in Sandy. So enjoying this outing — from left to right around the table are Sister   Carol Mumford, Norene Larsen, Darrell Manning, Elder Ron Mumford, Frank Westerman , Marlene Westerman and Rosalyn Mumford (taking the picture is Sherm Larsen)
